Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Take a look below for answers to some of the most frequently asked questions:

How long does an Online Vet Consultation last?

Each online vet consultation is scheduled for 20 minutes. Following your appointment, you’ll receive a detailed, personalized report via email that summarizes your discussion with the veterinarian and outlines any recommended next steps for your pet’s care.

An Online Vet Consultation is available for a one-time fee of $29.95 USD (reduced from $60.00). This covers your complete online veterinary experience, including the 20-minute video consultation and a detailed personalized report delivered after your appointment.

You can upload photos when you book your appointment using the image upload option in the booking form. If you’d like to share additional photos later, you can also upload them directly in the Zoom chat during your consultation.
Getting ready is simple. Make sure you have a device with the Zoom app installed — you can use your phone, computer, or tablet. If you haven’t already, download Zoom for free from their official website: https://zoom.us/download

For the best experience, try to join the call from a quiet spot without too much background noise or distraction. You’re welcome to have your pet with you for part or all of the consultation. Depending on your concerns, the vet may ask to see your pet during the call.

A Zoom link will be sent to your email before your appointment. You can click the link up to 5 minutes before the scheduled start time to join the call.

If Zoom isn’t already installed on your device, the link will guide you through installing the free Zoom app. You can also download it anytime from the official Zoom website: https://zoom.us/download

You’ll be able to join your online consultation from your device of choice:

  • Phone
  • Computer
  • Tablet
No — using video is optional. You’re welcome to join with audio only if that’s more comfortable for you. However, we do recommend turning on your camera if your pet is with you, as it helps the vet provide the best possible support.
During your consultation, the vet will review the concerns you shared in your booking form and ask a few follow-up questions. They’ll provide advice, help assess your pet’s situation, and guide you on the best next steps.
No — prescriptions require an in-person veterinary client–patient relationship, which means a vet must be licensed in your specific location. While we can’t prescribe medication, our vets can help you understand whether your pet may need it, explain what tests an in-clinic vet might recommend before issuing a prescription, and give you an idea of potential costs. If needed, we can also guide you toward finding a local veterinarian who can provide further care.

Online vet consults are a great option for questions about your pet’s health, nutrition, behavior, training, or general medical concerns. Our vets can give you peace of mind, practical guidance, and clear next steps to keep your pet happy and healthy.

However, an online vet consult is not a replacement for an in-person exam. If your pet is experiencing an emergency or any life-threatening situation, please contact a local veterinarian right away.

No, you don’t need to upload or share your pet’s medical records to book a video call. While any background information you can provide is always helpful, it’s not required. Our vets can guide you and your pet during the consultation based on what you share with us in real time.
With an online vet consultation, you get direct access to professional veterinary advice without leaving home. Our vets can guide you on questions about your pet’s health, nutrition, behavior, and non-urgent illnesses. Unlike the time constraints of a busy clinic, we’re able to give your concerns the detailed attention they deserve. We’ll also help you understand whether your pet’s situation requires an in-person visit, and how urgently. If you don’t already have a trusted clinic, we can even assist you in finding a local veterinarian nearby.
Our veterinarians cannot perform physical exams, make formal diagnoses, or prescribe medication. However, they can provide trusted advice and guidance, and help you create a clear action plan for your pet’s health, nutrition, behavior, and non-urgent illness needs.

At this time we’re unable to serve customers in the Canadian provinces of Ontario and British Columbia due to local veterinary legislation.

We hope these regulations change in the future so we can extend our services to pet parents in these regions as well.

We’re always happy to meet the whole family! To give each pet the individual care and attention they deserve, please book a separate consultation for each one. This way, our vets have enough time to focus on their unique needs.
We record calls for quality and training purposes, and so our vets can review your pet’s history to provide you with the most accurate and personalized recommendations after the consultation.

Find Specialized Help for Your Pet

Get targeted advice based on your pet’s specific needs:

Please visit your local vet hospital if you need a prescription or if your pet is experiencing any of these signs:

  • Bleeding that won’t stop
  • Bloated abdomen
  • Collapse
  • Inability to urinate
  • Rapid or shallow breathing
  • Seizures
  • Severe pain or trauma
  • Unconsciousness or lack of response

The above is not an exhaustive list. In the event of an emergency, your pet needs to be seen in person. A telehealth session can be helpful in many cases, but it is not a substitute for visiting an in-person vet hospital.
